Hawaiian War Chant | This is a little demo I cooked up in the studio just for fun. When we occasionally play this live, I intrude on the drummer's space to play a little war chant duet. |
Sugarfootin' | This is a composition to honor Hank "Sugarfoot" Garland, one of the most brilliant players in country music history. Hank's "Sugarfoot Rag" is part of the standard repertoire for any guitar player. I combined elements inspired by the original piece with some jazz flavored rides. I sent a copy to Hank!!! |
First Train Headed South Solo | This solo is from on Roger Wallace's CD, "That Kind of Lonely", which appeared on the Texas Roundup Records label. |
Cedar Fever Solo | "Cedar Fever" is the lead track from the AM Band CD, "On the Radio". I played this solo on a Washburn J-6 with 0.013 - 0.056 round-wound strings, through my early 60's Fender Princeton amp. |
Ode To Better Living Solo | This appeared on Git Gone's first release, "Rockin' Tunes". I played this solo on one of my 1986 G&L ASAT's, same early 60's Princeton as above. There no tricks involved... just pickin' as fast as I can. |
Paralyzed Solo | Once again, it's the ASAT, neck pickup, Princeton amp. The ASAT has an amazing variety of tones and here it sounds like a hollow body, but it's not. |
Special Delivery Stomp Solo | This was on The AM Band, "Swang" CD. This was no off-the-cuff improvisation. I probably did this about 30 times before I managed to play it all right. I just wanted something with a "gee-whiz" sort of feel. ASAT, Princeton. |
This Time Solo | As I listened to pick out some solos for this collections, I was surprised at how few pure-country solos I'd recorded, most being country-jazz hybrids. This is pedal steel inspired, harmonically. There's some tight intervals, a couple of bends. ASAT plus Princeton. |
Opposite Attraction Solo | This solo is part of the song -- I play pretty much the same thing each time this song is performed. ASAT thru Princeton. |
Uncle Dave Got Caught Solo | I just like this one because of the open string run and the twangy sound. |
Roger Wallace "Don't Nobody Love Me" |
